My Story
I have lived in Denver since I was one year old. Except for my college years, one year in Indianapolis, Indiana and five years in Rexburg, Idaho, I have lived all my life in the Denver Metro Area. I graduated from Aurora Central High School, lettering in gymnastics and active in the choral music program.
After graduation, I attended Brigham Young University where I met my first husband. Sixteen years and four children later, I found myself as a “single parent.” I met my current husband and very best friend in 1990. We were married about a year later and embarked on the fun path of “Married with Step-Parenting.” We weathered that storm and are still going strong – as are the four children, now all adults.
When my children were young, I worked part-time doing everything from delivering phone books to re-leathering wood pieces called pneumatics for pipe organs. As they became older, I returned to college in computer science. I went to work full time with Citicorp Mortgage Corporation doing several different things, but always involving computers. My knowledge of computers and their place in business, as well as my understanding of the mortgage world really grew while I was there. Next, I worked for a company called National Equipment and Tool Service. In a one-person office, I was the “office staff,” doing everything from answering the phone to writing their computer programs that tracked equipment and billed the customers. That was a great experience in learning to be organized, self-directed and self-motivated. From there, I went to the parent company called Raytheon and worked within the Procurement Department as a Software Trainer. There I learned incredible patience as I worked with buyers and engineers helping them to transition to a new way to do business and to learn a new software.
Because my heart had always been in Real Estate, when my last child left home (I’m not so old, as you might be thinking), I decided to go to Real Estate school and get my license. In 2000, I received my license and have never looked back. I love what I do. My career path, from Mothering to Software Trainer, have all prepared me for what I am doing now. In 2003, I achieved the designation of e-Pro. This involved a special course designed to train the REALTOR® in the technology side of Real Estate. I continue to take classes and attend seminars to learn more about my chosen profession and to better serve the people for which I work.
